The Sonata pointe shoe shank/insole is not secured at the heel, with less resistance past the break point the dancer will feel well supported and uplifted when 'en pointe'. Inside the box at the platform is a soft sponge cushion insert which gives added comfort and protection when standing 'en pointe' also acting as a shock absorber. This shoe actively supports the dancer with flexible arches under the metarsals while still allowing the foot to arch at the three quarter. Fine cushioning under the pleats soften the sound of the box.
